  • Preparing audit programmes, schedules, and checklists.
  • Reviewing supplier documentation before the audit.
  • Practical exercise: Develop a risk-based audit plan for a selected supplier.
Day 2

Conducting Supplier Audits and Evaluating Findings

  • Preparing for on-site and remote supplier audits.
  • Conducting opening meetings, interviews, and process observations.
  • Reviewing procedures, inspection records, and quality documentation.
  • Evaluating process controls, traceability, and nonconformity management.
  • Collecting and verifying objective audit evidence.
  • Identifying nonconformities and documenting audit findings.
  • Practical exercise: Conduct a simulated supplier audit and prepare an evidence-based findings report.
Day 3

Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action Verification

  • Classifying supplier audit findings and assessing their significance.
  • Applying the Five Whys and fishbone diagram.
  • Distinguishing immediate correction from root cause corrective action.
  • Reviewing supplier corrective action plans.
  • Establishing responsibilities, deadlines, and verification criteria.
  • Verifying implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Practical exercise: Analyze a supplier nonconformity and evaluate the proposed corrective action.
Day 4

Supplier Development and Performance Improvement

  • Understanding supplier development objectives and business benefits.
  • Assessing supplier capability, maturity, and improvement needs.
  • Developing supplier performance indicators and scorecards.
  • Identifying recurring defects, delivery issues, and process weaknesses.
  • Establishing joint improvement plans with suppliers.
  • Supporting process standardization, employee capability, and problem-solving.
  • Practical exercise: Develop a supplier improvement plan based on audit findings and performance data.
Day 5

Supplier Development Implementation and Continuous Improvement

  • Prioritizing supplier development initiatives according to risk and business impact.
  • Defining improvement targets, milestones, responsibilities, and resources.
  • Establishing supplier follow-up meetings and progress reviews.
  • Monitoring audit closure, defect trends, delivery performance, and corrective actions.
  • Strengthening supplier communication and collaborative relationships.

  • Final workshop: Develop an integrated supplier audit and development programme covering audit planning, findings management, corrective actions, performance monitoring, supplier improvement priorities, and follow-up arrangements.
