Course Overview

The Retail Management Training Course equips store managers, retail supervisors, area and regional managers, and aspiring retail leaders with the knowledge and practical skills needed to run successful retail operations that deliver sales, profit, excellent customer experience, and operational excellence. Retail is fast-paced, competitive, and customer-facing, and the store manager has a direct impact on performance through merchandising, service, people, stock, and cost management. In a market where customer expectations are rising, e-commerce is reshaping shopping, and competition is intense, retail managers must balance commercial results with customer experience, lead frontline teams effectively, and adapt to omnichannel retailing, making strong retail management capability essential to success. The course covers retail management across the key areas that drive store performance. Participants learn the retail environment, trends, and the role and responsibilities of the retail manager, retail strategy, formats, and the customer, and how stores make money through sales, margin, and key retail metrics. The program then addresses sales and customer experience management, service standards, and selling on the floor, visual merchandising, store layout, and product presentation, and inventory and stock management, including availability, replenishment, shrinkage, and loss prevention. Participants cover retail people management, including recruiting, scheduling, training, motivating, and leading frontline teams, retail operations, standards, and compliance, and managing costs, margins, and store profitability. Participants also examine customer loyalty and complaint handling, retail marketing and promotions at store level, omnichannel and digital retailing and the integration of online and offline, using retail data and technology, and health, safety, and security in stores, consolidated through a store performance improvement plan. The course is delivered through retail case studies, store walk and merchandising exercises, people and scheduling scenarios, and performance analysis. Participants leave with a retail KPI and store performance dashboard guide, a visual merchandising and store standards checklist, a stock and loss prevention checklist, a retail team management toolkit, and a store performance improvement plan template.
