The MICE Strategy & Convention Bureau Management Training Course equips tourism authorities, convention bureau leaders, and destination managers with the strategic and managerial knowledge needed to develop meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions business at the level of the whole destination. The course is not about organizing an individual event. Its focus is the work that makes a city or country a place where events choose to come: positioning, sector targeting, bidding, partnerships, and the institution that holds them together. Governments across the Gulf and Africa are investing in business events as a route to knowledge exchange, sector development, and year-round visitor demand. Participants begin with strategy. They assess destination readiness across air access, visas, hotel supply, venues, and professional services, identify priority sectors linked to national economic plans, and choose the association, corporate, incentive, and exhibition segments that the destination can realistically win. They then study the convention bureau itself: governance options, public and membership funding models, mandate, structure, staffing, and the balance between neutrality and partner interests. The program then moves to winning business. Participants examine how international associations decide where to meet, how to research prospects using industry sources such as ICCA, how to build ambassador programs with local academics and professionals, how to write bid books and host site inspections, and how to design subvention policies with clear conditions. They also study incentive market development, partner engagement across hotels, venues, and destination management companies, and measures that go beyond counting room nights, including economic contribution and sector legacy. The course is delivered through destination case studies, readiness assessments, bid simulations, partner mapping, and a final strategy workshop. Participants leave with a destination readiness scorecard, a segment and sector targeting plan, a convention bureau operating model, a bid book outline, and a MICE strategy framework they can adapt to their own destination.
