The Hands-On Machine Learning for Payment Fraud Detection Training Course is a practitioner-level program for fraud analytics, data science and fraud strategy teams in banks, payment companies, fintechs and telecom operators. Rather than revisiting fraud risk frameworks, governance or investigations, it concentrates on the technical work of designing, building, evaluating and running machine learning models that score card, transfer, wallet and digital channel transactions for fraud. Payment fraud now moves at the speed of instant payments and digital onboarding. Card-not-present attacks, account takeover, authorized push payment scams and mule networks adapt quickly to static rules, while fraud remains rare, labels arrive late and every unnecessary decline costs revenue and customer trust. Participants learn how to frame the detection problem correctly, define reliable labels, engineer behavioral and velocity features, and avoid the data leakage that makes models look strong in development and then fail in production. The course covers supervised and unsupervised learning, gradient-boosted trees and neural approaches, anomaly detection, graph and network analytics for fraud rings, class imbalance, threshold setting and false-positive reduction. It also examines real-time scoring architecture, latency constraints, the combination of rules and models, and decision strategies that balance fraud losses against customer friction and the capacity of review teams. The final part addresses what keeps a fraud model trustworthy after go-live: drift and performance monitoring, feedback loops, fraudster adaptation, explainability and reason codes for analysts, independent validation and model risk documentation. Through worked datasets, modeling exercises and design workshops, participants leave with a practical blueprint for building and operating fraud detection models in their own institution.
