Course Overview
The Fraud Auditing & Forensic Accounting Training Course equips internal and external auditors, forensic accountants, investigators, compliance and finance professionals with the knowledge and practical techniques needed to assess fraud risk, detect red flags, analyze financial records, investigate suspected fraud, and support legal and disciplinary action. Fraud affects organizations in every sector, including ministries and government entities, banks and financial institutions, energy and utility companies, healthcare systems, and private corporations, causing financial losses, reputational damage, regulatory consequences, and erosion of trust. Many frauds remain undetected for long periods because controls are weak, red flags are missed, data is not analyzed, and investigations are poorly planned or conducted. The course covers fraud auditing and forensic accounting from fraud theory to investigation and reporting. Participants learn why fraud occurs, the main categories of occupational fraud, including asset misappropriation, corruption, and financial statement fraud, auditor responsibilities for fraud under recognized auditing standards, and how to conduct fraud risk assessments and evaluate anti-fraud controls. The program then addresses forensic analysis of financial statements, revenue, expense, and asset manipulation schemes, journal entry testing, and forensic data analytics, including Benford's analysis, duplicate and gap testing, and anomaly detection, as well as common schemes in procurement, payroll, expense reimbursements, inventory, cash, and cyber-enabled fraud such as business email compromise. Participants also examine planning and conducting fraud investigations, evidence collection and chain of custody, document examination and digital evidence, interviewing techniques, tracing funds and assets, links to money laundering, legal and confidentiality considerations, forensic reporting and expert witness support, whistleblowing arrangements, and building an effective anti-fraud program. The course is delivered through real-world fraud case studies, red flag identification exercises, financial statement and data analytics workshops, investigation planning exercises, interview role plays, and forensic report writing practice. Participants leave with a fraud risk assessment template, a fraud red flags checklist, a forensic data analytics test library, an investigation plan and evidence log template, and a forensic report template. This course builds practical fraud examination skills and is not an official certification program.
