Course Overview

The Digital Identity, E-Signatures & Trust Services Training Course provides a practical and regulatory framework for designing, governing, and relying on national digital identity schemes, electronic signatures, electronic seals, and trust services. The course focuses on how citizens, residents, and businesses prove who they are online and sign with legal effect, rather than on access control inside a single organization. Participants will examine foundational and functional identity systems, national digital identity platforms, mobile identity, identity proofing, eKYC, biometric matching, liveness detection, and levels of assurance. The program explains how banks, telecom operators, fintech providers, and government channels rely on national identity to onboard customers remotely, meet customer due diligence obligations, and reduce identity fraud. The course then addresses the legal and technical foundations of digital trust: simple, advanced, and qualified electronic signatures, electronic seals, timestamps, remote signing, certificate validation, and long-term preservation of signed records. It examines how the UAE Electronic Transactions and Trust Services Law, the Saudi Electronic Transactions Law, the EU eIDAS Regulation, and the UNCITRAL model laws treat legal effect, admissibility, and the licensing and supervision of trust service providers. Through case studies, onboarding journey reviews, and implementation workshops, participants will develop the ability to assess digital identity and trust service arrangements, select appropriate assurance and signature levels, and build a roadmap for trusted, interoperable digital transactions.

Learning Objectives

  • By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
  • Explain the components, stakeholders, and trust relationships of national digital identity ecosystems.
  • Distinguish foundational, functional, and mobile identity models and their roles in service delivery.
