Course Overview

The Dealing with the Public & Customer Service Excellence Training Course equips frontline employees, customer service and call center staff, counter and reception staff, and supervisors with the mindset, communication skills, and practical techniques needed to deal with the public professionally and deliver excellent service that builds satisfaction, trust, and a positive organizational reputation. Every interaction with the public, whether in person, by phone, or digitally, shapes how people experience and judge an organization. In government service centers, ministries, public authorities, banks, healthcare, utilities, and service organizations, frontline staff are the face of the organization, and the quality of their service directly affects satisfaction, trust, compliance, and reputation, while poor service creates complaints, frustration, and reputational damage. The course covers dealing with the public and service excellence comprehensively and practically. Participants learn the importance of customer service and the cost of poor service, what customers and the public expect, and the mindset and attitude of excellent service providers. The program then addresses professional communication skills, including verbal, non-verbal, listening, and questioning, face-to-face, telephone, and written and digital service, and understanding customer needs and managing expectations. Participants cover the service interaction from greeting to closure, handling diverse members of the public including people with special needs, managing difficult, angry, and demanding customers, de-escalation and staying calm under pressure, and effective complaint handling and service recovery. Participants also examine service standards and consistency, dealing with the public in government and high-volume service environments, teamwork and internal service, personal resilience, stress, and emotional management, measuring customer satisfaction and feedback, and personal and organizational continuous improvement of service, with practice throughout. The course is delivered through interactive exercises, service and complaint role plays, difficult customer scenarios, and self-assessment and feedback. Participants leave with a customer service standards guide, a communication and service interaction toolkit, a difficult customer and de-escalation guide, a complaint handling and service recovery process, and a personal service excellence improvement plan.
