The Cultural & Heritage Tourism Management Training Course equips heritage managers, tourism officials, and project leaders with the practical knowledge needed to open cultural places to visitors without damaging what makes them valuable. Across the Gulf and Africa, governments are investing in archaeological sites, historic districts, museums, and living traditions as part of their national identity and tourism offer, and these places need management that serves both conservation and visitors. The course is tied to heritage projects rather than to tourism management in general. Participants follow a heritage site from assessment of its significance through conservation planning, visitor infrastructure, interpretation, and daily operations. They examine values-based management, visitor flow and carrying capacity, authenticity, community participation, intangible heritage, and the different demands placed on a monument, a historic town, and a museum. Participants work with the references that shape the field, including the UNESCO World Heritage Convention and its Operational Guidelines, the ICOMOS International Cultural Tourism Charter, and heritage impact assessment practice. Funding models, ticketing, retail, concessions, partnerships, and measuring the results of a project complete the scope. The course is delivered through site case studies, significance assessment exercises, visitor flow mapping, interpretation planning, and a final workshop. Participants leave with a statement of significance, a visitor management plan, an interpretation framework, a revenue model outline, and a heritage tourism project plan they can adapt to their own sites.
