This advanced, practical course provides a comprehensive understanding of World Trade Organization (WTO) rules and their application within international trade policy. It examines the principles, agreements, obligations, and regulatory frameworks that govern international trade in goods and services, while connecting them to national trade policies and institutional decision-making. The program focuses on the practical interpretation of WTO rules covering tariffs, quantitative restrictions, trade remedies, subsidies, anti-dumping measures, safeguards, technical barriers to trade, and sanitary and phytosanitary measures. Participants will examine how these instruments influence market access, competitiveness, trade flows, and international business operations. The course also addresses the relationship between national trade measures and international obligations, enabling participants to identify regulatory and trade risks, assess policy implications, and evaluate the potential effects of changes in international trade rules on organizations, industries, and supply chains. Through case studies, policy analysis, practical exercises, and simulated trade scenarios, participants will develop the ability to apply WTO principles to real-world trade policy and compliance challenges.
