Course Overview

The Working at Heights & Fall Protection Training Course provides comprehensive knowledge and practical skills for identifying fall hazards, assessing risks, and implementing effective fall prevention and protection measures in workplaces where employees perform tasks at elevated levels. The programme focuses on safe work practices, regulatory compliance, equipment selection, and risk management to reduce the likelihood of falls and protect workers across construction, oil and gas, industrial maintenance, power generation, telecommunications, and other high-risk sectors. Working at heights is one of the most significant occupational safety challenges in industries involving elevated platforms, scaffolding, ladders, rooftops, structural frameworks, and industrial access systems. Falls can result in serious injuries, fatalities, operational disruptions, and substantial financial consequences. This course examines the principles of fall prevention, the hierarchy of fall protection controls, and the responsibilities of employers, supervisors, safety officers, and workers in establishing safe working environments. The programme covers the identification of fall hazards, task-based risk assessment, safe access and egress, inspection of work-at-height equipment, and the correct selection and use of personal fall protection systems. Participants examine guardrails, safety nets, travel restraint systems, fall arrest systems, full-body harnesses, lanyards, lifelines, and approved anchorage points. Particular attention is given to equipment compatibility, clearance calculations, swing-fall hazards, fall factors, and the prevention of suspension-related injuries following a fall. The course also addresses safe work procedures for scaffolding, ladders, mobile elevated work platforms, roof work, fragile surfaces, and industrial structures. Participants explore permit-to-work requirements, rescue planning, emergency response, equipment inspection, and the importance of competent supervision. Practical discussions highlight common failures in fall protection, including improper anchorage, incorrect harness fitting, inadequate clearance, damaged equipment, and the absence of effective rescue arrangements. Through practical exercises, hazard identification activities, equipment demonstrations, and scenario-based assessments, participants develop a systematic approach to planning and supervising work at height. The programme emphasizes proactive hazard control, worker competency, communication, and continuous improvement. It is designed to help organizations strengthen fall prevention practices, reduce work-related incidents, improve compliance with applicable safety requirements, and establish a stronger culture of working-at-height safety.
