The Wireline & Slickline Operations Training Course equips well intervention engineers, supervisors, and operators with the practical knowledge needed to plan, rig up, and execute slickline, braided line, and electric line operations safely and efficiently. Wireline services are among the most frequently used and cost-effective methods of well intervention and surveillance, supporting activities such as well diagnostics, plug and valve operations, gas lift maintenance, logging, perforating, and fishing. However, these operations take place on live wells under pressure, and errors in pressure control, toolstring selection, depth control, or wire management can lead to stuck tools, lost wire, costly fishing jobs, and well control incidents. The course covers wireline operations from equipment to execution. Participants learn the types of wireline and their properties and limits, surface units and depth and tension measurement, and pressure control equipment, including wireline valves, lubricators, stuffing boxes, grease injection heads, tool traps, and tool catchers. The program then addresses slickline toolstrings and service tools, common slickline operations such as drifting, gauge cutting, setting and pulling plugs, gas lift valve change-outs, sliding sleeve shifting, safety valve operations, bailing, and memory gauge surveys, and electric line operations, including cased hole logging, perforating, plug and packer setting, pipe recovery, and tractor conveyance. Participants also examine well barriers during wireline work, explosives safety, depth control and correlation, operations in deviated and high-pressure or sour wells, wireline fishing techniques, job planning and risk assessment, and reporting and quality control. The course is delivered through equipment and toolstring schematics, job planning workshops, case studies of wireline incidents, and troubleshooting and fishing exercises. Participants leave with a wireline job planning template, a pressure control equipment checklist, a toolstring selection guide, a wireline fishing decision guide, and a wireline operations safety checklist.
