Course Overview

The Wi-Fi 6/7 & Enterprise Wireless Network Design Training Course equips network engineers, wireless specialists, IT infrastructure managers, and solution architects with the knowledge and practical design skills needed to plan, design, secure, deploy, and optimize high-performance enterprise wireless networks based on Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 6E, and Wi-Fi 7. In government entities, ministries, banks, hospitals, universities, airports, shopping centers, hotels, industrial facilities, and corporate campuses, Wi-Fi has become the primary access network for employees, customers, citizens, and a rapidly growing number of connected devices. Users expect reliable, fast, and secure connectivity everywhere, supporting voice, video, collaboration, cloud applications, and Internet of Things services. Many enterprise wireless networks fail to meet these expectations. Networks may be designed for coverage rather than capacity, access points may be placed without proper surveys, channel plans and transmit power settings may create interference, and roaming may be unreliable for voice and mobile applications. The capabilities of newer standards, such as OFDMA, multi-user MIMO, target wake time, wider channels in the 6 GHz band, and multi-link operation, may not be leveraged because client devices, wired infrastructure, or configurations are not aligned. Security may rely on outdated methods, guest and Internet of Things devices may not be properly segmented, and operations teams may lack visibility to troubleshoot performance issues proactively. This course provides a structured, vendor-neutral approach to enterprise wireless network design based on IEEE 802.11 standards and recognized industry certification and security practices. Participants learn RF fundamentals relevant to Wi-Fi design, the evolution of Wi-Fi standards, and the key technologies of Wi-Fi 6, 6E, and 7, including OFDMA, multi-user MIMO, BSS coloring, target wake time, higher-order modulation, wider channels, preamble puncturing, and multi-link operation, as well as the direction of future Wi-Fi generations. The program covers gathering requirements and defining design criteria, capacity planning based on users, devices, and applications, predictive modeling, pre-deployment and post-deployment site surveys, access point placement, channel and power planning across the 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz bands, and design for challenging environments, including high-density venues, outdoor areas, warehouses, hospitals, and industrial facilities. Participants then learn enterprise WLAN architectures, including controller-based, cloud-managed, and distributed models, wired infrastructure requirements such as multi-gigabit switching and power over Ethernet budgets, roaming optimization, quality of service for voice and video, wireless security using WPA3, 802.1X authentication, network access control, segmentation, and wireless intrusion prevention, and onboarding and securing Internet of Things devices. The course also addresses location services, monitoring and troubleshooting, AI-driven wireless operations, validation and acceptance testing, coexistence with private cellular networks, and planning upgrades and migrations to newer Wi-Fi generations. The course is delivered through an interactive, application-focused approach with RF and capacity calculations, predictive design exercises, survey data analysis, security design workshops, and troubleshooting scenarios. Participants leave with a wireless requirements and design criteria template, a capacity planning worksheet, an access point placement and channel planning guide, a site survey and validation checklist, a WLAN architecture comparison, a wireless security design checklist, a troubleshooting flowchart, and a Wi-Fi upgrade and migration roadmap.

Learning Objectives

  • Apply RF fundamentals, including signal propagation, attenuation, interference, signal-to-noise ratio, and antenna characteristics, to enterprise wireless design on Day 1.
  • Analyze the evolution of IEEE 802.11 standards and the key technologies of Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 6E, and Wi-Fi 7, as well as the direction of future Wi-Fi generations.
  • Evaluate the benefits and requirements of OFDMA, multi-user MIMO, BSS coloring, target wake time, higher-order modulation, wider channels, preamble puncturing, and multi-link operation.
  • Gather wireless requirements and define design criteria based on users, devices, applications, and service levels.
  • Perform capacity planning for different environments, including high-density and mission-critical areas.
  • Apply predictive modeling and pre-deployment and post-deployment site survey methods to design and validate wireless networks.
  • Develop access point placement, channel, and transmit power plans across the 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz bands, considering regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate controller-based, cloud-managed, and distributed WLAN architectures and wired infrastructure requirements, including multi-gigabit switching and power over Ethernet.
  • Design roaming and quality of service configurations that support voice, video, and mobile applications.
  • Design wireless security using WPA3, 802.1X authentication, network access control, segmentation, guest access, and wireless intrusion prevention, including secure onboarding of Internet of Things devices.
  • Apply monitoring, analytics, AI-driven operations, and structured troubleshooting methods to maintain wireless performance.
  • Develop a Wi-Fi upgrade and migration roadmap, including validation, acceptance testing, and coexistence with private cellular networks, by the end of Day 5.

Who Should Attend

This course is designed for network engineers, wireless engineers, IT infrastructure engineers and managers, network architects, and solution architects responsible for designing, deploying, or operating enterprise wireless networks. It is also highly relevant for IT operations and support staff, cybersecurity professionals responsible for network access security, systems integrators and technical pre-sales engineers, and project managers delivering wireless infrastructure projects. It is particularly valuable for professionals in ministries, government entities, and public authorities operating campus and public-facing networks; in banks and financial institutions supporting branches and headquarters; in hospitals and healthcare systems supporting clinical devices and mobile staff; in universities, schools, airports, hotels, shopping centers, and stadiums serving high-density user populations; and in energy, utilities, manufacturing, logistics, and oil and gas organizations using wireless networks for industrial operations and Internet of Things. Participants should have basic networking knowledge; prior wireless experience is helpful but not required.

Learning Outcomes

  • By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
  • Explain RF behavior and its impact on wireless network performance.
  • Describe how Wi-Fi 6, 6E, and 7 improve efficiency, capacity, and latency.
  • Determine when newer Wi-Fi features will deliver real benefits based on client devices and infrastructure.
  • Define clear wireless requirements and design criteria.
  • Plan capacity for offices, high-density venues, and specialized environments.
  • Use predictive design and site surveys to place access points effectively.
  • Create channel and power plans that minimize interference.
  • Select an appropriate WLAN architecture and plan the wired infrastructure to support it.
  • Configure roaming and quality of service for voice, video, and mobile applications.
  • Design secure wireless access for employees, guests, and Internet of Things devices.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot wireless performance problems systematically.
  • Plan and validate wireless upgrades and migrations.
