The UPS & Battery Systems Training Course equips electrical engineers, technicians, and facility and maintenance professionals with the knowledge and practical skills needed to select, size, operate, test, maintain, and troubleshoot uninterruptible power supply systems, DC systems, and stationary batteries that protect critical loads. Control systems, safety and emergency shutdown systems, telecommunications, data centers, hospitals, substations, and industrial processes all depend on uninterrupted, high-quality power. UPS and battery failures, often caused by poor design, inadequate maintenance, high temperatures, or undetected battery degradation, can lead to loss of critical systems, unsafe plant trips, data loss, and costly outages. The course covers UPS and battery systems from design principles to field maintenance, informed by recognized international and industry standards for UPS systems and for the sizing, installation, maintenance, and testing of stationary batteries. Participants learn UPS types, topologies, and performance classifications, static and rotary systems, AC and DC industrial UPS and battery chargers, redundancy configurations, bypass arrangements, and UPS sizing. The program then addresses battery technologies, including vented and valve-regulated lead-acid, nickel-cadmium, and lithium-ion batteries, battery sizing and autonomy calculations, charging regimes, temperature effects, battery room design and ventilation, and battery monitoring systems. Participants also learn commissioning, load bank and capacity testing, impedance and conductance testing, thermal imaging, preventive maintenance, integration with generators and transfer switches, protection and selectivity, electrical and chemical safety including arc flash and lithium-ion thermal runaway risks, fault diagnosis, and life cycle and replacement planning. The course is delivered through system schematics, sizing calculations, maintenance and test data interpretation, and troubleshooting case studies. Participants leave with a UPS and battery sizing worksheet, a redundancy and configuration selection guide, a battery maintenance and testing checklist, a battery room safety checklist, and a UPS troubleshooting guide.
