Course Overview

The Supply Chain Performance Management & KPIs Training Course equips supply chain, procurement, planning, logistics, and finance professionals with the frameworks and tools needed to measure, manage, and improve end-to-end supply chain performance. In government entities, ministries, healthcare systems, banks, manufacturing, retail, and distribution companies, and large corporations, the supply chain affects service continuity, cost, working capital, risk exposure, and sustainability outcomes. Leadership increasingly expects supply chain teams to demonstrate performance with clear, credible, and comparable measures, and to show how improvements contribute to organizational results. Supply chain performance is often measured in fragments. Procurement may be rewarded for price savings that increase inventory or reduce quality, planning may track forecasts without measuring their accuracy and bias, logistics may measure delivery performance while ignoring total cost, and finance may see the impact on working capital only at year end. When each function optimizes its own measures, the end-to-end supply chain can underperform even as individual KPIs appear healthy. Too many indicators, inconsistent definitions, weak data, and reports that do not drive decisions further limit the value of measurement. This course provides an integrated approach to supply chain performance management. Participants learn how to translate organizational strategy into supply chain objectives, build a balanced and aligned KPI framework across the full supply chain, and apply recognized frameworks such as the SCOR model performance attributes and the balanced scorecard. The program covers KPIs for customer service and order fulfillment, demand and supply planning, procurement and supplier performance, inventory, operations and logistics, supply chain cost and financial performance, including working capital and the cash-to-cash cycle, supply chain resilience, and sustainability. Participants also learn how to design metric hierarchies from strategic to operational levels, avoid conflicting incentives between functions, set targets and benchmark performance, ensure data quality, design dashboards and supplier scorecards, run effective performance reviews within sales and operations planning, and use performance insights to drive continuous improvement. The course is delivered through an interactive, application-focused approach with KPI design exercises, data analysis, dashboard building, and case studies. Participants leave with an integrated supply chain KPI framework, a metric hierarchy, KPI definition sheets, a supplier scorecard, a supply chain performance dashboard design, a performance review structure, and an improvement plan for supply chain performance management in their organization.

Learning Objectives

  • Analyze the role of performance management in aligning supply chain activities with organizational strategy and results on Day 1.
  • Evaluate the participant's current supply chain measurement practices and identify gaps, conflicting measures, and data issues.
  • Develop an integrated supply chain KPI framework that balances service, cost, assets, risk, and sustainability.
  • Apply the SCOR model performance attributes and the balanced scorecard to structure end-to-end supply chain measures.
  • Design a metric hierarchy that links strategic, tactical, and operational KPIs and establishes clear ownership.
  • Apply KPIs for customer service, order fulfillment, demand planning, supply planning, procurement, supplier performance, inventory, and logistics.
  • Analyze supply chain financial performance, including total supply chain cost, inventory days, working capital, and the cash-to-cash cycle.
  • Develop measures for supply chain resilience and sustainability, including recovery capability and supply chain environmental impact.
  • Identify and resolve conflicting KPIs and incentives between functions to promote end-to-end optimization.
  • Develop targets using baselines, trends, internal comparisons, and external benchmarking.
  • Design supply chain dashboards, supplier scorecards, and performance review processes that support decisions and continuous improvement.
  • Design a supply chain performance management improvement plan for the participant's organization by the end of Day 5.

Who Should Attend

This course is designed for supply chain directors and managers, procurement and category managers, demand and supply planners, logistics and distribution managers, inventory and warehouse managers, and operations managers responsible for supply chain results. It is also highly relevant for supply chain analysts, performance management and business intelligence professionals, continuous improvement specialists, and finance professionals who analyze supply chain costs and working capital. It is particularly valuable for professionals in ministries and government entities managing public procurement, central supply, and service delivery performance; in healthcare systems monitoring the availability and cost of medicines, supplies, and equipment; in banks and financial institutions overseeing procurement, outsourcing, and supplier performance; and in manufacturing, retail, consumer goods, utilities, construction, and service organizations managing complex, multi-tier supply chains. Senior managers and executives who review supply chain performance, set targets, and chair performance or sales and operations planning meetings will also benefit from the course.

Learning Outcomes

  • By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
  • Explain how integrated performance management improves end-to-end supply chain results.
  • Build a balanced KPI framework covering service, cost, assets, risk, and sustainability.
  • Link supply chain KPIs to organizational strategy through a clear metric hierarchy.
  • Write complete KPI definitions with formulas, data sources, owners, baselines, and targets.
  • Calculate and interpret key measures such as perfect order, forecast accuracy and bias, supplier on-time in-full, inventory days, and cash-to-cash cycle time.
  • Measure total supply chain cost and its relationship to service and working capital.
  • Define practical indicators for supply chain resilience and sustainability.
  • Identify KPIs that create conflicting behaviors between functions and redesign them for end-to-end alignment.
  • Set realistic, evidence-based targets supported by benchmarking.
  • Design dashboards and supplier scorecards tailored to different audiences.
  • Run performance reviews that link results to decisions within sales and operations planning.
  • Use performance data and root cause analysis to prioritize and drive supply chain improvements.
