Course Overview

The Supply Chain Analytics Training Course equips supply chain, procurement, logistics, and planning professionals with the analytical methods, tools, and data skills needed to turn supply chain data into insights and better decisions across the end-to-end supply chain. In government entities, ministries, healthcare systems, banks, energy and utility companies, manufacturing, retail, and distribution organizations, and large corporations, supply chains generate large volumes of data from ERP, procurement, warehouse, transport, and supplier systems. Organizations that use this data effectively can reduce costs, improve service levels, manage risk, and respond faster to change. Despite having data, many organizations struggle to use it. Data may be spread across disconnected systems, inconsistent, or incomplete, reports may describe what happened without explaining why, and decisions may still rely mainly on experience and intuition. Analysis may be limited to basic spreadsheets, dashboards may display too many numbers without clear insights, and teams may lack confidence in statistical and optimization techniques. As a result, opportunities to reduce spend, optimize inventory, improve transport efficiency, and anticipate supplier and supply risks are often missed. This course provides a practical, applied introduction to supply chain analytics without requiring an advanced mathematical background. Participants learn the four levels of analytics, descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive, and how they support different supply chain decisions. The program covers building strong data foundations, including data sources, data quality, cleansing, integration, and governance, and applying core analytical techniques such as descriptive statistics, variability analysis, correlation, regression, segmentation, and root cause analysis. Participants then apply analytics across key supply chain areas, including spend and supplier analytics, demand and inventory analytics, warehouse and transport analytics, cost-to-serve analysis, and supply risk analytics. The course also introduces scenario and what-if analysis, simulation, and optimization using practical tools such as spreadsheet solvers, as well as an overview of machine learning applications. Participants learn data visualization and dashboard design, storytelling with data, and how to build analytics capability and a data-driven culture in their supply chain teams. The course is delivered through an interactive, hands-on approach using spreadsheet and business intelligence tools with realistic supply chain datasets. Participants leave with a supply chain data readiness assessment, a set of analytical templates, a spend and supplier analysis, an inventory and logistics analysis, a scenario and optimization model, a supply chain analytics dashboard design, and a supply chain analytics roadmap for their organization.

Learning Objectives

  • Analyze the role of analytics in improving supply chain decisions, performance, and resilience on Day 1.
  • Apply descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics to different supply chain decisions.
  • Assess supply chain data sources, quality, and readiness and apply data cleansing, integration, and governance practices.
  • Apply core statistical techniques, including descriptive statistics, variability analysis, correlation, and regression, to supply chain data.
  • Apply spend and supplier analytics to identify savings opportunities, supplier concentration, performance issues, and risk.
  • Apply demand and inventory analytics, including segmentation, forecast accuracy analysis, and service level and stock optimization.
  • Apply warehouse, transport, and cost-to-serve analytics to identify efficiency improvements and cost drivers.
  • Develop scenario and what-if models to evaluate the impact of changes in demand, supply, cost, and lead times.
  • Apply optimization and simulation techniques using practical tools to support decisions such as allocation, routing, and network choices.
  • Evaluate practical applications of machine learning and advanced analytics in supply chain management.
  • Design clear dashboards and use data storytelling to communicate insights and recommendations to decision makers.
  • Develop a supply chain analytics roadmap covering data, tools, skills, and priority use cases by the end of Day 5.

Who Should Attend

This course is designed for supply chain managers, procurement and category managers, demand and supply planners, inventory controllers, logistics and transport managers, and warehouse managers who want to use data more effectively in their decisions. It is also highly relevant for supply chain analysts, business intelligence and reporting specialists, data analysts supporting supply chain functions, and continuous improvement professionals. It is particularly valuable for professionals in ministries and government entities managing public procurement, central supply, and distribution; in healthcare systems analyzing the demand, availability, and cost of medicines and supplies; in banks and financial institutions analyzing procurement spend, supplier performance, and operational logistics; and in energy, utilities, manufacturing, retail, e-commerce, distribution, and service organizations managing complex supply chains. Finance professionals analyzing supply chain costs, digital transformation teams, and managers seeking to build data-driven supply chain capabilities will also benefit from the course.

Learning Outcomes

  • By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
  • Explain how the different levels of analytics support supply chain decisions.
  • Assess the quality and readiness of supply chain data and correct common data problems.
  • Apply basic statistical techniques to identify patterns, variability, and relationships in supply chain data.
  • Analyze spend and supplier data to identify savings and risk.
  • Analyze inventory and demand data to improve stock levels and service.
  • Analyze transport, warehouse, and cost-to-serve data to find efficiency improvements.
  • Build what-if scenarios to test the impact of supply chain changes.
  • Use spreadsheet optimization tools to solve practical supply chain problems.
  • Understand where machine learning can add value and what it requires.
  • Design dashboards that highlight insights rather than just data.
  • Present analytical findings as clear, persuasive recommendations.
  • Plan practical steps to build analytics capability in their team.
