The REITs & Real Estate Funds Governance Training Course equips fund board members, fund managers, compliance officers, trustees, and regulators with the governance knowledge needed to oversee listed and private real estate funds responsibly. Its focus is accountability: who decides, who checks, who is told, and how investors are protected. Investment analysis appears only where it informs oversight, so the course differs from programs that teach participants how to select or price real estate deals. Across the Gulf and Africa, real estate investment trusts and private funds are drawing wider investor participation, and with it higher expectations of transparency. The course starts with the fund structure and the parties around it. Participants examine the roles of the fund manager, the board or investment committee, independent members, the custodian or trustee, the valuer, the auditor, and the property manager. They compare listed REITs with unlisted and private funds, and review constitutional documents, investment mandates, and the limits they impose. Regulators' approval and supervision of funds are treated as a governance topic so that boards know what they must oversee, while the rules of each jurisdiction remain to be confirmed locally. The core of the program addresses the points where interests can diverge. Participants work through related-party transactions, property acquisitions from sponsors, management and performance fees, leverage limits, distribution policy, and conflicts of interest. They review valuation governance using the International Valuation Standards, IAS 40 reporting, net asset value oversight, and the control of data reaching the board. IOSCO principles for collective investment schemes, and the INREV Guidelines for non-listed vehicles, are used as reference points, and Shariah supervision is discussed as a governance function for Islamic funds. Investor protection and transparency complete the scope, including disclosure, investor meetings, voting, complaints, risk reporting, sustainability information, and crisis communication. The course is delivered through fund case studies, board simulations, related-party decision exercises, and a final governance workshop. Participants leave with a governance map, a conflicts register, a related-party approval procedure, a board reporting pack outline, and a fund governance improvement plan they can adapt to their own organizations.
