The Quantitative Project Risk Analysis & Monte Carlo Simulation Training Course equips project managers, risk managers, planners, cost engineers, and project control professionals with the methods and tools needed to quantify the combined effect of risks and uncertainties on project cost and schedule, set realistic contingencies, and support confident, evidence-based decisions. In government entities, ministries, public authorities, banks, healthcare systems, energy and utility companies, construction, engineering, infrastructure, and technology organizations, and large corporations, single-point cost estimates and deterministic schedules often create a false sense of certainty. Quantitative risk analysis shows decision makers the range of possible outcomes and the probability of meeting budget and completion targets. Many organizations maintain risk registers with probability and impact scores but cannot answer fundamental questions: how much contingency is needed, how likely it is to finish by the target date, which risks and uncertainties drive the outcomes, and how much a proposed mitigation would improve the position. Contingencies may be set as arbitrary percentages, three-point estimates may be affected by optimism and anchoring, correlations may be ignored, and schedule risk analysis may be performed on schedules with poor logic, producing misleading results. Simulation outputs may also be presented without clear interpretation, leaving decision makers uncertain about how to use them. This course provides a practical, structured approach to quantitative project risk analysis using Monte Carlo simulation, informed by recognized risk management principles and industry recommended practices. Participants learn the difference between qualitative and quantitative analysis, the nature of uncertainty and risk events, and essential probability concepts, including probability distributions such as triangular, PERT, uniform, normal, lognormal, and discrete distributions. The program covers three-point estimating and structured expert elicitation, including techniques to reduce cognitive biases, and modeling correlation between uncertainties. Participants then learn quantitative cost risk analysis using range estimating and risk-driven approaches, and schedule risk analysis using project networks, including schedule quality prerequisites, merge bias, criticality index, and sensitivity analysis. The course also addresses integrated cost and schedule risk analysis, interpretation of simulation outputs including cumulative distribution curves, histograms, and confidence levels such as P50 and P80, determining cost and schedule contingency and management reserve, evaluating risk responses before and after mitigation, decision tree analysis and expected monetary value, communicating results to decision makers, and establishing governance for quantitative risk analysis. The course is delivered through an intensive, hands-on approach using spreadsheet-based Monte Carlo simulation models and schedule risk analysis exercises on realistic case study projects. Participants leave with a three-point estimating and elicitation guide, a cost risk simulation model, a schedule risk analysis checklist, a contingency determination worksheet, a sensitivity and tornado chart template, a decision tree analysis template, and a quantitative risk analysis report template.
