The Project Controls Training Course equips project managers, project control professionals, planners, cost engineers, and PMO staff with an integrated approach to planning, measuring, forecasting, and controlling project performance across scope, schedule, cost, risk, and change. In government entities, ministries, public authorities, banks, healthcare systems, energy and utility companies, construction, engineering, and technology organizations, and large corporations, effective project controls give leadership a reliable, early view of where a project stands, where it is heading, and what action is needed. Without them, projects are managed on optimism rather than evidence. Many organizations have planners, cost engineers, and reporting tools, yet still lack true control. Schedules and budgets may be developed separately, progress may be reported subjectively, costs may be tracked without linking them to work performed, and changes may be approved without assessing their full impact on time, cost, and risk. Forecasts may simply repeat the budget until overruns become unavoidable, contingency may be consumed without visibility, and monthly reports may describe activity rather than performance and required decisions. Contractor schedules and progress claims may also be accepted without adequate scrutiny. This course provides a comprehensive, practical framework for integrated project controls, informed by recognized industry practices such as the total cost management approach. Participants learn the purpose and scope of project controls, the project controls lifecycle, and how to establish a project controls plan, roles, and governance. The program covers building an integrated baseline by aligning the work breakdown structure, organizational breakdown structure, cost breakdown structure, and responsibility assignment matrix into control accounts, and integrating the schedule, budget, and risk. Participants then learn objective progress measurement methods, earned value management and integrated performance analysis, forecasting estimate at completion and completion dates, change management and trend management, risk-adjusted forecasting and contingency management, and oversight of contractor schedules, progress, and cost reports. The course also addresses document control and information management, project controls reporting and dashboards, stage gate reviews, project controls systems and data integration, project controls maturity, benchmarking, and capturing lessons learned and historical data. The course is delivered through an interactive, application-focused approach with a case study project that participants control from baseline through several reporting periods, supported by calculations, analysis exercises, and group workshops. Participants leave with a project controls plan outline, an integrated baseline and control account structure, a progress measurement rules of credit guide, an earned value and forecast analysis, a change and trend register, a contingency drawdown log, and a monthly project controls report template.
