The Production Logging & Well Surveillance Training Course equips petroleum, production, and reservoir engineers with the knowledge and practical skills to plan, acquire, quality control, and interpret production logging and well surveillance data, and to use the results to optimize production, manage reservoirs, and protect well integrity. As fields mature, understanding where each well produces or injects fluids, where water and gas are entering, and how well integrity is changing becomes essential for selecting interventions, managing water and gas, improving recovery, and avoiding costly failures. Surveillance programs that are poorly designed or poorly interpreted waste money and can lead to wrong decisions. The course covers the full surveillance cycle, from program design to decision making. Participants learn the objectives of well surveillance, how to design cost-effective surveillance programs, and the principles of multiphase flow in vertical, deviated, and horizontal wells. The program then addresses production logging tools, including spinners, density, holdup, temperature, pressure, caliper, and array tools, job planning and conveyance, data quality control, and interpretation of flow profiles, zonal contributions, fluid entries, and crossflow. Participants also examine temperature and noise logging, distributed temperature and acoustic sensing, cased hole saturation monitoring using pulsed neutron tools, cement and well integrity logs, injection well surveillance, permanent downhole gauges, production tests and multiphase meters, tracers, and how to integrate surveillance results into reservoir management and intervention decisions. The course is delivered through log examples, interpretation workshops using realistic datasets, case studies, and surveillance planning exercises. Participants leave with a surveillance program design template, a production logging job planning checklist, a data quality control checklist, a production log interpretation workflow, and a surveillance-to-action decision guide.
