The Procurement Fraud Prevention & Detection Training Course equips procurement, audit, compliance, finance, and investigation professionals with the knowledge and practical tools needed to prevent, detect, and respond to fraud and corruption in procurement. In government entities, ministries, banks, oil and gas companies, and large corporations, procurement involves large financial flows, discretionary decisions, and close interaction with external suppliers, which makes it one of the areas most exposed to fraud, bribery, collusion, and conflicts of interest. The consequences extend beyond financial loss to include poor quality goods and services, safety risks, legal liability, regulatory sanctions, and serious damage to institutional reputation and public trust. Procurement fraud is often difficult to detect because it may be concealed within apparently normal transactions and may involve collusion between insiders and suppliers or among bidders. Organizations frequently rely on controls that exist on paper but are not applied consistently, overlook red flags in specifications, tenders, and payments, underuse the data already held in their systems, and lack clear procedures for reporting and responding to suspicions. Prevention and detection require a combination of strong controls, informed professionals, effective use of data, and a culture that encourages integrity and speaking up. This course provides a comprehensive and practical approach. Participants learn why fraud occurs, using the fraud triangle and related concepts, and examine the most common procurement fraud schemes across the lifecycle, including manipulation of needs and specifications, split purchases, bid rigging and collusion, kickbacks and bribery, undisclosed conflicts of interest, fictitious suppliers, false or inflated invoices, duplicate payments, contract variation abuse, and product substitution. The program covers red flags at each stage, fraud risk assessment, preventive controls, supplier master data controls, data analytics techniques for detection, whistleblowing and reporting mechanisms, the fundamentals of conducting procurement fraud reviews and investigations, and building an ethical procurement culture aligned with recognized anti-corruption principles. Throughout the five days, participants analyze realistic case studies and datasets based on their own organizational context. They leave with a procurement fraud risk assessment, a red flags checklist for each procurement stage, a set of data analytics tests, a controls improvement plan, an investigation response outline, and an integrity action plan for their organization.
