Course Overview

The Private 5G Networks for Industry & Enterprises Training Course equips technology leaders, network and operational technology engineers, digital transformation professionals, and decision makers with the knowledge and practical frameworks needed to evaluate, design, procure, deploy, and operate private 5G networks that support mission-critical industrial and enterprise operations. Private 5G networks provide dedicated, secure, and high-performance wireless connectivity within a defined site or campus, enabling applications that require reliability, low latency, mobility, and large numbers of connected devices. Organizations in energy, utilities, oil and gas, mining, manufacturing, ports, airports, logistics, healthcare, smart campuses, and public safety are increasingly exploring private 5G to support automation, remote operations, video analytics, connected workers, and digital twins. Despite growing interest, many organizations find private 5G difficult to evaluate and implement. It may be unclear which use cases genuinely require 5G rather than Wi-Fi, private LTE, or public network services, how spectrum can be obtained, and which ownership and operating models are most suitable. Business cases may be based on technology enthusiasm rather than quantified operational benefits, integration with existing operational technology systems, industrial control networks, and IT infrastructure may be underestimated, and device ecosystems and security requirements may not be fully understood. Pilots may succeed technically but fail to progress to scaled deployment because of unclear total cost of ownership, operating responsibilities, and skills. This course provides a structured, practical guide to private 5G networks for industry and enterprises, based on 3GPP standards for non-public networks and recognized industrial and cybersecurity practices. Participants learn private 5G fundamentals, the capabilities of 5G relevant to industrial applications, and how private 5G compares with Wi-Fi, private LTE, and public network slicing. The program covers use cases across key sectors, business case development, and total cost of ownership analysis, as well as deployment and ownership models, including standalone non-public networks, public network integrated non-public networks, enterprise-owned, operator-managed, neutral host, and hybrid models. Participants then examine spectrum options and regulatory considerations, private 5G architecture including radio access, core, and edge computing placement, integration with operational technology, industrial control systems, and IT networks, time-sensitive and low-latency communications, positioning, and device ecosystems including reduced capability devices. The course also addresses network planning and design for industrial environments, cybersecurity for private 5G and connected operational technology informed by recognized industrial security standards, operations, service management and lifecycle management, vendor and partner selection, pilot design and scaling, and developing a private 5G strategy and roadmap. The course is delivered through an interactive, application-focused approach with sector case studies, use case assessment workshops, architecture and deployment model design exercises, business case development, and the preparation of a private 5G roadmap for the participant's organization. Participants leave with a use case assessment and prioritization framework, a connectivity technology selection guide, a deployment and ownership model comparison, a private 5G business case and total cost of ownership template, a reference architecture outline, a private 5G security checklist, a vendor evaluation matrix, and a private 5G adoption roadmap.

Learning Objectives

  • Analyze the fundamentals and capabilities of private 5G networks and their value for industrial and enterprise operations on Day 1.
  • Compare private 5G with Wi-Fi, private LTE, and public network slicing and select the most suitable connectivity approach for different use cases.
  • Identify and prioritize private 5G use cases in energy, utilities, oil and gas, mining, manufacturing, ports, airports, logistics, healthcare, campuses, and public safety.
  • Develop a private 5G business case and total cost of ownership analysis based on quantified operational benefits.
  • Evaluate deployment and ownership models, including standalone and public network integrated non-public networks, enterprise-owned, operator-managed, neutral host, and hybrid models.
  • Assess spectrum options, licensing approaches, and regulatory considerations for private 5G.
  • Design a private 5G reference architecture covering radio access, core network, edge computing, and integration with IT and operational technology systems.
  • Evaluate low-latency, time-sensitive, positioning, and massive device capabilities and their relevance to industrial applications.
  • Assess device and ecosystem readiness, including industrial devices, sensors, and reduced capability devices.
  • Apply cybersecurity principles for private 5G and connected operational technology environments, informed by recognized industrial security standards.
  • Plan operations, service management, lifecycle management, vendor selection, and pilot design for private 5G networks.
  • Develop a private 5G strategy and adoption roadmap for the participant's organization by the end of Day 5.

Who Should Attend

This course is designed for technology and digital transformation leaders, IT and operational technology managers, network engineers and architects, automation and control engineers, and innovation managers responsible for connectivity and digital operations. It is also highly relevant for telecommunications professionals, system integrators, solution architects, and consultants delivering private network solutions, as well as procurement and project managers involved in private 5G initiatives. It is particularly valuable for professionals in energy, utilities, oil and gas, petrochemical, and mining organizations operating large or remote sites; in manufacturing, logistics, ports, airports, and transport organizations pursuing automation and smart operations; in healthcare systems, universities, and smart campus operators; in ministries, government entities, regulators, and public safety organizations responsible for critical infrastructure and spectrum policy; and in telecommunications operators and infrastructure providers offering private network services. Senior managers evaluating investment in private 5G will also benefit from the course.

Learning Outcomes

  • By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
  • Explain what private 5G networks are and how they differ from public and other private wireless networks.
  • Decide when private 5G is the right choice and when alternatives are more suitable.
  • Identify high-value private 5G use cases in their sector.
  • Build a credible business case and total cost of ownership comparison.
  • Choose an appropriate deployment and ownership model.
  • Explain the spectrum and regulatory options available for private networks.
  • Outline a private 5G architecture that integrates with existing IT and operational systems.
  • Assess whether industrial applications require low latency, determinism, or positioning.
  • Evaluate device and ecosystem readiness for planned applications.
  • Apply security measures that protect private 5G and connected operations.
  • Plan operations, vendor selection, and pilots that can scale.
  • Present a practical private 5G roadmap to decision makers.
