Course Overview

The Persuasion & Influencing Skills Training Course equips managers, professionals, and specialists across functions with the mindset, techniques, and practical skills needed to influence others, gain buy-in, and achieve results without relying on formal authority. In modern organizations, work gets done through collaboration, negotiation, and persuasion across teams, departments, stakeholders, and leadership, and the ability to influence ideas, decisions, and behavior is a defining skill for effectiveness and leadership. In government entities, banks, and corporations, professionals who can present ideas convincingly, win support, and move people to action advance their initiatives and careers, while those who cannot see good ideas stall regardless of merit. The course covers persuasion and influence from principles to practical application, grounded in ethics and credibility. Participants learn what persuasion and influence are and are not, the difference between influence and manipulation, and the foundations of credibility, trust, and the ethical use of influence. The program then addresses principles of persuasion and the psychology of why people say yes, understanding your audience and their motivations, and building trust and rapport. Participants cover communicating persuasively, including structuring a compelling case, storytelling, and evidence, influencing styles and adapting to different people, and non-verbal communication and presence. Participants also examine influencing upward, across, and without authority, stakeholder mapping and influence strategy, handling resistance and objections, persuasive negotiation and reaching agreement, influencing in meetings, presentations, and writing, group and organizational influence and building coalitions, and influencing in difficult and cross-cultural situations, with practice throughout. The course is delivered through interactive exercises, influence and persuasion role plays, case studies, and practice building and delivering persuasive cases. Participants leave with a persuasion and influence toolkit, an audience and stakeholder analysis guide, a persuasive case and storytelling template, an influencing styles and resistance guide, and a personal influence development plan.
