The Mining Project Development: From Feasibility to Investment Decision Training Course equips mining executives, project sponsors, investment managers, and government officials with the management knowledge needed to steer a mineral project from an early discovery to a final investment decision. Mining projects commit large sums long before the first production, on incomplete information about the orebody, the market, and the operating environment. Across the Gulf and Africa, ministries, national mining companies, sovereign investors, and private developers increasingly have to judge such projects, and the quality of their stage decisions shapes whether a deposit becomes a viable mine or a stranded asset. Weak early decisions are expensive to reverse, because each stage raises the money at stake and narrows the options that remain, so sponsors and reviewers need a shared view of what must be proven, by whom, and at what point. The course focuses on project stages and financing decisions in mining, rather than on general techniques for feasibility studies and cost-benefit analysis. Participants follow the stage-gate sequence of scoping study, prefeasibility study, definitive feasibility study, and final investment decision, and they learn what each stage should deliver, how much confidence it can support, and when a project should be stopped, recycled, or advanced. They read mineral resource and ore reserve statements with an informed eye, with reference to the CRIRSCO family of reporting standards such as the JORC Code and Canada's CIM Definition Standards, which NI 43-101 incorporates, and they question the assumptions behind grade, recovery, mine plan, capital estimates, and operating costs. The financing side receives equal weight. Participants compare equity, strategic partners, streaming and royalty finance, project finance, offtake-linked funding, and development finance, and they examine what lenders expect from a bankable study, including independent engineer reviews and the IFC Performance Standards and Equator Principles. Valuation by net present value and internal rate of return, sensitivity and scenario testing, fiscal terms, infrastructure and power solutions, environmental and social impact assessment, community engagement, and permitting as a governance workstream complete the scope, so that participants can see how technical, commercial, and social questions come together in one decision. The course is delivered through project case studies, study review exercises, financing structure comparisons, a stage-gate simulation, and a final investment committee workshop. Participants leave with a stage-gate checklist, a feasibility study review template, a project risk register, a financing options comparison, and an investment decision paper outline they can adapt to their own projects and portfolios.
