The Mining Contractor & Contract Management Training Course equips mine owners, contract managers, commercial teams, and government officials with the knowledge needed to plan, award, and manage the contracts that move rock at a mine. Many operations, especially new mines in the Gulf and Africa, rely on contractors for drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, and development, so performance, cost, and safety often depend on how well those agreements are written and run. A poorly structured agreement can reward moving tonnes over following the mine plan, hide the true cost of rework and dilution, and leave the owner with little visibility of what is happening in the pit, while a well-structured one aligns both parties around safe, planned, and measurable production. The course focuses on contract mining agreements and their performance indicators, not on maintenance contracts or general service agreements. Participants compare owner-operated mining with full contract mining, partial contracting, alliance, and target cost models, along with EPCM and related project forms. They study how rates per tonne or per volume are built, how rise-and-fall adjustments work, and how to allocate geological, volume, and access risk fairly. Participants then follow the contract through its life: scope and mine plan linkage, tendering, bid evaluation, mobilization, measurement and survey, payment, productivity and availability KPIs, HSE performance, variations, claims, liquidated damages, dispute resolution, and demobilization. Local content and community expectations complete the scope, along with the owner's team capacity needed to manage a contractor well. The course is delivered through contract case studies, rate build-up exercises, claim simulations, and a final workshop. Participants leave with a contracting strategy template, a bid evaluation matrix, a KPI scorecard, a claims log format, and a contract management plan.
