The Metals & Minerals Marketing, Offtake & Price Risk Training Course equips commercial managers, marketing teams, finance leaders, and government officials with the knowledge needed to sell mined products well and to protect the revenue they earn. A mine's value is finally realized in a sales contract, yet many organizations invest far more in production than in the commercial skills that decide what they are paid. National mining companies, state holding entities, and new producers across the Gulf and Africa increasingly need to manage these decisions themselves, whether they sell through their own team, appoint an agent, or inherit marketing arrangements from a partner or financier. The course focuses on the commercial side of metals and minerals rather than the management of production, and it treats hedging as one part of a wider marketing and contract picture. Participants examine how concentrates, refined metals, and bulk and industrial minerals are sold, how benchmark prices and price reporting agencies work, the differences between direct sales, traders, and tenders, and how a marketing strategy allocates volume across customers, regions, and contract terms. They also consider how the marketing function should be organized, how sales and risk control are kept separate, and how market intelligence feeds into mine planning conversations without moving into production management. Participants study offtake agreements clause by clause at a commercial level: volume and tenor, take-or-pay, pricing formulas, quotational periods, provisional and final pricing, treatment and refining charges, payable metals, deleterious elements, sampling and assay arrangements, Incoterms, and force majeure. They then connect those terms to price risk, using forwards, futures, options, and natural hedges, with governance through a board-approved risk policy, and they review the responsible sourcing expectations of buyers. The course is delivered through contract case studies, netback calculations, negotiation simulations, and a final workshop. Participants leave with a marketing plan outline, an offtake term sheet checklist, a netback model, a price risk map, and a draft risk policy they can adapt.
