Course Overview

This advanced programme provides a practical framework for managing medical logistics and healthcare supply chains, covering the planning, procurement, storage, distribution, and availability of medicines, medical devices, consumables, and critical healthcare supplies. The programme addresses the specific challenges of healthcare supply chains, including demand variability, critical-item shortages, expiry and wastage, cold-chain requirements, supplier dependency, inventory costs, regulatory requirements, and continuity of supply. It connects logistics decisions with patient safety, clinical operations, service continuity, and financial performance. Participants will examine inventory planning, forecasting, procurement coordination, warehouse operations, distribution networks, stock control, supplier performance, and supply chain risk. Particular attention is given to managing temperature-sensitive products, controlled and high-value items, emergency supplies, and products with limited shelf life. Through practical calculations, inventory exercises, supply chain scenarios, and healthcare case studies, participants will develop the capability to improve availability, reduce waste, strengthen logistics resilience, and build more efficient and responsive healthcare supply chains.
