This advanced programme provides a practical framework for planning, selecting, acquiring, managing, maintaining, and replacing medical equipment throughout its complete asset lifecycle. It focuses on aligning biomedical equipment investments with clinical requirements, patient safety, operational capacity, technology strategy, and financial priorities. The programme addresses the full biomedical asset management cycle, including clinical needs assessment, technology evaluation, equipment specification, procurement support, commissioning, inventory management, preventive and corrective maintenance, performance monitoring, risk classification, and end-of-life planning. Participants will develop practical approaches for evaluating equipment utilisation, reliability, maintenance requirements, lifecycle costs, technology risks, and replacement priorities. Particular attention is given to critical medical equipment, service contracts, spare parts, vendor management, regulatory requirements, equipment availability, and continuity of clinical services. Through equipment planning exercises, asset-register analysis, lifecycle costing, risk-based prioritisation, maintenance scenarios, and replacement planning, participants will build the capabilities required to manage biomedical assets efficiently while improving equipment reliability, safety, availability, and value.
