The Management of Change (MoC) Training Course provides a structured approach to identifying, assessing, approving, implementing, and verifying changes that may affect operational safety, process integrity, equipment reliability, regulatory compliance, and organizational performance. It focuses on establishing a disciplined change management process that ensures modifications are evaluated before implementation, with clear responsibilities, documented risk assessments, and appropriate authorization. In industrial environments, changes to equipment, process conditions, operating procedures, materials, control systems, personnel responsibilities, or organizational structures can introduce risks that may not be immediately apparent. An effective MoC system helps organizations identify these risks before changes are introduced, assess their potential consequences, and establish the safeguards required to maintain safe and reliable operations. The course explains how to distinguish changes that require formal management of change from routine activities covered by existing procedures. The programme addresses the complete MoC lifecycle, from initiating a change request and defining its scope to conducting technical reviews, assessing operational and safety risks, obtaining approvals, and coordinating implementation. Participants examine the importance of multidisciplinary reviews involving operations, engineering, maintenance, process safety, quality, environmental management, and other relevant functions. Particular attention is given to temporary changes, emergency modifications, documentation control, and the management of changes that affect safety-critical equipment or operating limits. A central component of the course is the integration of MoC with risk assessment, process safety management, operational readiness, and pre-startup safety reviews. Participants learn how to identify affected procedures, drawings, training requirements, inspection plans, maintenance strategies, and emergency arrangements. The course also explores how to verify that approved changes have been implemented correctly, outstanding actions have been closed, and the resulting risks remain controlled throughout the change lifecycle. Through practical exercises and industrial case studies, participants develop the ability to evaluate proposed changes, document risk controls, establish approval workflows, and monitor implementation effectiveness. The programme is particularly relevant to oil and gas facilities, refineries, petrochemical plants, power generation facilities, manufacturing operations, and other organizations where uncontrolled changes can affect personnel safety, asset integrity, environmental performance, or operational continuity.
