Course Overview

The Maintenance Contracts & Contractor Management Training Course equips maintenance managers, contract owners, engineers, and procurement professionals with the practical knowledge and tools needed to plan, procure, and manage maintenance contracts that deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective asset performance. In oil and gas, petrochemicals, power, water and utilities, manufacturing, mining, transport, facilities management, and government asset-owning organizations, a large share of routine maintenance, specialist services, turnarounds, and facilities management is delivered by contractors and original equipment manufacturers. The quality of these contracts and the way contractors are managed directly affect equipment availability, safety performance, maintenance cost, and compliance. The course covers the full lifecycle of maintenance contracting. Participants learn how to make outsourcing decisions aligned with maintenance strategy, select appropriate contract models, including framework and call-off contracts, schedules of rates, lump sum, reimbursable, performance-based and availability contracts, long-term service agreements with equipment manufacturers, integrated facilities management, and turnaround contracts, and define clear scopes of work, service levels, and KPIs. The program then addresses pricing and payment mechanisms, contractor prequalification and selection with emphasis on safety and competence, mobilization and onboarding, contractor safety management and permit-to-work integration, work order and call-off control, supervision and quality assurance, invoice verification and cost control, performance scorecards and reviews, variations and claims, relationship management, local content, and contract closeout and handover. The course is delivered through practical case studies, contract design workshops, contractor evaluation and performance review exercises, and role plays of common contract management situations. Participants leave with a maintenance outsourcing decision framework, a contract model selection guide, a scope of work and SLA template, a contractor prequalification and evaluation matrix, a contractor performance scorecard, an invoice verification checklist, and a contract closeout checklist.
