Course Overview

Legal analysis and the preparation of well-reasoned legal opinions are essential to sound decision-making, effective risk management, and regulatory compliance. Legal professionals must be able to interpret legislation, assess contractual obligations, evaluate legal precedents, and translate complex legal issues into clear, defensible conclusions. This course develops a structured approach to legal research, statutory interpretation, evidence assessment, and the application of legal principles to practical cases. Participants will learn how to distinguish relevant facts from legal assumptions, identify potential liabilities, compare competing interpretations, and formulate recommendations supported by authoritative legal sources. Through practical case studies, legal drafting exercises, and simulated advisory scenarios, participants will strengthen their ability to produce accurate, objective, and professionally structured legal opinions. The course also addresses confidentiality, professional ethics, citation standards, and the communication of legal risks to management and other stakeholders.
