Course Overview

Lean Six Sigma Champion and Sponsor roles are essential to ensuring that improvement initiatives deliver measurable business results and remain aligned with organizational strategy. While project teams focus on analysing processes and implementing solutions, Champions and Sponsors provide strategic direction, secure resources, remove organizational barriers, and maintain leadership accountability throughout the improvement lifecycle. This course examines the leadership responsibilities required to govern Lean Six Sigma programmes effectively, from identifying high-value improvement opportunities and selecting projects to monitoring performance, managing risks, and sustaining achieved benefits. Participants will explore the Lean Six Sigma DMAIC methodology, project selection and prioritization, business case evaluation, governance structures, resource allocation, change management, and performance measurement. The programme emphasizes the distinction between executive sponsorship, programme championing, and technical project execution. Through practical exercises and business case studies, participants will develop the skills to evaluate improvement proposals, establish clear project mandates, support Green Belt and Black Belt teams, resolve escalation issues, and verify the realization of financial and operational benefits. The course equips leaders with a structured approach to building an improvement portfolio, strengthening cross-functional accountability, and embedding Lean Six Sigma into organizational performance management.
