Course Overview

The Lean Management & Waste Elimination Training Course provides practical knowledge and tools to improve operational efficiency, streamline workflows, reduce non-value-added activities, and strengthen organizational performance. The course focuses on applying Lean principles to identify waste, improve process flow, optimize resource utilization, and deliver greater value to customers. Participants explore the eight types of waste, value stream mapping, workplace organization, standardized work, continuous improvement, and root cause analysis. The programme emphasizes practical methods for identifying process inefficiencies, reducing delays, minimizing rework, and improving productivity without compromising quality, safety, or service standards. Through case studies, group exercises, and practical applications, participants learn how to implement Lean initiatives, engage employees in improvement activities, measure results, and sustain operational gains across manufacturing, maintenance, logistics, financial services, government entities, and other business environments.

Learning Objectives

  • Explain the principles and core concepts of Lean Management.
  • Identify and classify the eight types of operational waste.
  • Analyze workflows to identify bottlenecks and non-value-added activities.
  • Apply value stream mapping to assess current processes and design improved workflows.
  • Use Lean tools to reduce waiting time, defects, excess inventory, and unnecessary movement.
  • Apply root cause analysis to address recurring operational problems.
  • Improve workplace organization and process consistency through practical Lean techniques.
  • Establish performance indicators to measure waste reduction and productivity improvements.
  • Engage employees and teams in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop an actionable Lean implementation plan aligned with organizational objectives.

Who Should Attend

This course is designed for operations managers, department heads, process improvement specialists, production supervisors, quality professionals, maintenance engineers, logistics and supply chain personnel, and project managers seeking to improve efficiency and eliminate operational waste. It is also suitable for professionals in government entities, banking, oil and gas, manufacturing, engineering, healthcare, and service organizations who are responsible for process performance, cost control, service quality, resource utilization, and continuous improvement.

Learning Outcomes

  • By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
  • Evaluate processes using Lean principles and value-focused thinking.
  • Recognize the eight types of waste and assess their operational impact.
  • Map current-state processes and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Develop future-state workflows that improve flow and reduce delays.
  • Apply workplace organization and standardized work practices.
  • Use root cause analysis to investigate recurring inefficiencies.
  • Recommend practical solutions to reduce rework, excess movement, and unnecessary processing.
  • Define indicators for monitoring productivity, cycle time, quality, and waste reduction.
  • Support employee participation and continuous improvement activities.
  • Prepare an implementation and monitoring plan for sustainable Lean improvements.
