Course Overview

The Leading Organizational Transformation Training Course is designed for leaders who are responsible for driving fundamental, organization-wide change. Government entities, ministries, banks, oil and gas companies, and large corporations are undertaking transformations that go far beyond individual projects: redesigning operating models, digitizing services, responding to national visions and strategies, adapting to energy transition, meeting new regulatory expectations, and reshaping culture to become more agile, customer-centric, and performance-driven. These transformations test leadership capability more than any other organizational challenge. Transformation differs from routine change in its scale, complexity, duration, and uncertainty. It requires leaders to set a compelling direction, align senior teams, mobilize the organization, govern a portfolio of interdependent initiatives, and shift deeply embedded mindsets and behaviors, all while continuing to run daily operations. Many transformations lose momentum not because the strategy is wrong, but because leadership alignment, execution discipline, and cultural commitment are insufficient. This course focuses on the leadership dimension of transformation. Participants learn how to define the transformation ambition and strategic narrative, design a target operating model, establish a transformation office and governance structure, prioritize and sequence initiatives, lead culture and behavior change, engage stakeholders at every level, and track value realization. The program also develops the personal leadership capabilities that transformation demands, including leading through ambiguity, making difficult trade-offs, building coalitions, and sustaining energy and resilience over a multi-year journey. Throughout the five days, participants apply each concept to a real or planned transformation in their own organization. They leave with a transformation blueprint that includes a vision and narrative, a target operating model outline, a governance structure, a prioritized initiative roadmap, a culture shift plan, and a personal transformation leadership plan.

Learning Objectives

  • Analyze the nature, scope, and success factors of organizational transformation and distinguish it from incremental change on Day 1.
  • Develop a clear transformation ambition, vision, and strategic narrative that connects to organizational purpose and strategy.
  • Assess the organization's current state and transformation readiness across strategy, structure, processes, technology, capabilities, and culture.
  • Design an outline target operating model that defines how the organization will create value in the future state.
  • Develop a transformation governance structure, including a transformation office, steering committee, roles, and decision-making processes.
  • Evaluate and prioritize transformation initiatives based on strategic value, feasibility, interdependencies, and risk.
  • Design a culture shift plan that defines target behaviors and the leadership actions, systems, and symbols that reinforce them.
  • Strengthen senior leadership team alignment and shared accountability for transformation outcomes.
  • Implement stakeholder engagement and communication approaches that mobilize the organization and sustain momentum.
  • Develop a value realization framework with key performance indicators to track transformation progress and benefits.
  • Design a personal transformation leadership plan that addresses the participant's role, capabilities, and development priorities by the end of Day 5.

Who Should Attend

This course is designed for senior executives, directors, deputy ministers, general managers, and department heads who lead or sponsor transformation programs, as well as heads and members of transformation offices, strategy management offices, and program management offices. It is also relevant for high-potential leaders preparing for senior roles in organizations undergoing significant change. It is particularly valuable for leaders in ministries and government entities delivering government transformation agendas, national vision programs, digital government, and institutional excellence initiatives; in banks and financial institutions leading digital transformation, operating model redesign, mergers, and customer experience programs; and in oil and gas and energy organizations navigating energy transition, digitalization of operations, portfolio restructuring, and performance improvement programs. Strategy directors, organizational development and HR leaders, chief digital and technology officers, and senior change management professionals will also benefit from the integrated view of strategy, execution, and leadership that the course provides.
