Course Overview

The ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems Training Course provides a comprehensive understanding of the principles, requirements, and implementation practices of ISO 45001, the international standard for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OH&S MS). The programme focuses on establishing, implementing, maintaining, and continually improving a structured management system that helps organizations prevent work-related injuries and ill health, control occupational risks, and create safer working environments. Occupational health and safety management is an essential component of organizational governance, operational excellence, and sustainable business performance. This course examines how ISO 45001 supports organizations in identifying workplace hazards, assessing occupational health and safety risks, meeting applicable legal and regulatory obligations, and integrating safety considerations into operational planning and management decisions. It also explores the importance of leadership commitment, worker participation, consultation, and accountability in developing an effective safety culture. The programme provides a detailed examination of the ISO 45001 framework, including its organizational context, leadership requirements, planning processes, support mechanisms, operational controls, performance evaluation, and improvement provisions. Participants explore hazard identification, risk assessment, legal compliance, emergency preparedness, contractor safety, management of change, incident investigation, and corrective action management. Particular emphasis is placed on applying a risk-based approach to prevent incidents and improve the effectiveness of occupational health and safety controls. The course also addresses the practical requirements of implementing and maintaining an ISO 45001 management system, including documentation, competence development, communication, internal audits, management reviews, and performance monitoring. Participants examine how to establish measurable safety objectives, evaluate compliance obligations, investigate incidents, monitor operational performance, and identify opportunities for continual improvement. The programme highlights the relationship between ISO 45001 and other management system standards, particularly ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, to support integrated management system implementation. Through practical exercises, workplace scenarios, audit activities, and implementation case studies, participants develop a structured approach to applying ISO 45001 requirements within their organizations. The course is suitable for organizations seeking to strengthen occupational safety performance, improve regulatory compliance, prepare for certification, or enhance an existing management system. It also supports professionals responsible for implementing, auditing, supervising, and continuously improving occupational health and safety management practices.
