Course Overview

This course develops the practical knowledge and skills required to establish, implement, maintain, and improve a quality management system for medical devices in accordance with ISO 13485. It focuses on the regulatory and quality requirements that support the safety, reliability, and consistent performance of medical devices throughout their life cycle, from design and development to production, distribution, and post-market activities. Participants examine the structure and key requirements of ISO 13485, including risk management, design and development controls, supplier management, production controls, traceability, validation of processes, control of nonconforming products, and corrective and preventive actions. The programme also addresses documented information, regulatory compliance, complaint handling, and post-market surveillance within the medical device quality framework. Through practical exercises and industry-based scenarios, participants learn how to interpret standard requirements, identify compliance gaps, manage quality risks, and prepare for internal audits and external assessments. Emphasis is placed on risk-based decision-making, documented evidence, process effectiveness, and continual improvement while recognizing the importance of applicable regulatory requirements alongside the standard.
