Course Overview

This training course addresses cybersecurity and patient data protection in the clinical setting, where general information security and data protection programs rarely reach. It focuses on the obligations that health-data laws place on hospitals and health-technology providers, including data custodianship, data localization, limits on cross-border transfers, and breach notification, together with the security of medical devices, clinical networks, and the continuity of care during ransomware attacks. The course also covers security in medical-device procurement and lifecycle management, network segmentation for clinical environments, identity and privileged access for clinical and vendor users, health-technology supplier risk, and continuous monitoring through a security operations center.   • Healthcare cyber risk assessment and risk register development.

Day 2

Health-Data Laws, Custodianship & Breach Notification

  • Data localization and limits on cross-border health data transfers.

  • Practical Application: Map a patient data flow, flag transfer limits, and draft a breach-notification decision path.

Medical Device & Clinical Network Security

  • Security requirements in medical-device procurement and contracts.
  • Software bills of materials and vulnerability handling.
  • Medical-device inventory and risk classification.
