Course Overview

Gemba walks and visual management are essential Lean management practices that help leaders understand how work is performed, identify operational problems at their source, and improve performance through direct observation and effective communication. Rather than relying solely on reports and performance summaries, leaders engage with employees at the place where work takes place to understand actual conditions, uncover barriers, and identify opportunities for improvement. This course develops the practical capabilities required to conduct structured Gemba walks, ask effective questions, observe workflows, identify waste, and distinguish symptoms from underlying causes. It also explores visual management techniques, including performance boards, daily management systems, visual controls, KPI displays, escalation signals, and action-tracking mechanisms that make operational performance transparent and easier to manage. Participants learn how to integrate Gemba walks and visual management into daily leadership routines, strengthen employee engagement, improve accountability, and accelerate problem-solving. The course emphasizes respectful leadership, evidence-based observation, timely follow-up, and sustainable improvement rather than fault-finding or inspection alone.
