The Flow Measurement & Custody Transfer Metering Training Course gives engineers and technicians a thorough, practical command of fiscal metering for crude oil, refined products and natural gas. Wherever hydrocarbons change ownership, are taxed or are shared between partners, the meter reading becomes a financial figure, and a small systematic error on a large export or pipeline system can shift substantial revenue between buyer, seller and government every year. The course covers the full metering chain: measurement principles, base conditions and fluid properties; turbine, positive displacement, Coriolis and multipath ultrasonic meters for liquids; orifice, ultrasonic and Coriolis meters for gas; flow conditioning and installation effects; sampling, density, water content and gas composition; and the flow computer calculations that convert raw pulses and differential pressure into net standard volume, mass and energy. Participants work with the principles of internationally recognized references such as ISO 5167, the API Manual of Petroleum Measurement Standards (MPMS) and AGA Report No. 9. The program then concentrates on how metering confidence is earned and defended: proving with pipe, compact and master meter provers, meter factor control, verification of secondary instruments, condition-based monitoring through meter diagnostics, uncertainty budgets, production allocation, mismeasurement correction and the handling of measurement disputes. Delivered through worked calculations, metering system schematics, flow computer report reviews, proving exercises and case studies of real mismeasurement events, the course prepares participants to operate, verify and audit custody transfer and allocation systems with confidence. Process instrumentation in general and terminal loading operations are left to other courses; the focus here stays on metering technology and measurement integrity.
