The FIDIC Contracts Training Course equips contract, project, engineering, and legal professionals with a clear, practical understanding of how FIDIC conditions of contract are structured, how they allocate risk and responsibility, and how to administer them effectively from tender through completion and final account. FIDIC forms, published by the International Federation of Consulting Engineers, are widely used for infrastructure, building, industrial, and engineering projects, including many projects funded by governments and multilateral development banks. For government entities, ministries, public authorities, utilities, developers, contractors, and consultants, the ability to understand and apply FIDIC provisions correctly has a direct effect on project cost, time, quality, and the avoidance of disputes. Many project teams use FIDIC contracts without fully understanding them. Particular Conditions may be drafted in ways that shift risk unexpectedly or undermine the balance of the standard forms, key notices may be missed or issued late, the role of the Engineer may be misunderstood, variations may be instructed without proper procedure, and claims for time and money may be poorly prepared or rejected on procedural grounds. Payment disputes, disagreements over extensions of time and delay damages, and escalating claims often result from weak contract administration rather than from the project itself. This course provides a structured, practical guide to the FIDIC suite with a focus on the forms most commonly used in practice. Participants learn the purpose and scope of the main FIDIC books, including the Red Book for construction designed by the employer, the Yellow Book for plant and design-build, the Silver Book for EPC and turnkey projects, and the Green Book short form, as well as the key differences between the 1999 editions and the 2017 second editions. The program covers contract structure, General and Particular Conditions and FIDIC's guidance on drafting them, the roles and obligations of the Employer, Contractor, and Engineer, and risk allocation. It then addresses time management, including commencement, programmes, delays, extensions of time, suspension, and delay damages; payment provisions, including advance payment, interim and final payments, and retention; variations and adjustments; taking over, tests on completion, and defects; insurance, securities, and exceptional events; termination; and the claims and dispute resolution procedures, including notices, time bars, the Engineer's determinations, dispute avoidance and adjudication boards, amicable settlement, and arbitration. This course is designed to build practical contract knowledge and is not an official FIDIC certification program. The course is delivered through an interactive, application-focused approach with clause analysis, case studies, notice and claim drafting exercises, and group workshops. Participants leave with a FIDIC form selection guide, a Particular Conditions review checklist, a contract administration calendar of key notices and time limits, an extension of time and claim preparation template, a variation management procedure outline, and a dispute avoidance action plan for their projects.
