Course Overview

The FIDIC Claims & Dispute Resolution Management Training Course provides a comprehensive understanding of contractual claims management and dispute resolution under FIDIC construction contracts. The programme focuses on interpreting contractual provisions, identifying entitlement to claims, managing notices and submissions, evaluating extensions of time and additional costs, and applying appropriate dispute resolution mechanisms throughout the project lifecycle. Participants examine the contractual responsibilities of employers, contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders, with particular attention to the FIDIC Red, Yellow, and Silver Books. The course explores the relationship between contractual obligations, project delays, variations, payment disputes, unforeseen circumstances, and risk allocation, enabling participants to assess claims in accordance with the applicable contract conditions and supporting evidence. The programme develops practical capabilities in claims preparation, substantiation, evaluation, negotiation, and administration. Participants learn to manage contractual notices, maintain contemporaneous records, analyse delay events, assess prolongation costs, and prepare well-supported submissions. Emphasis is placed on understanding contractual time bars, notice requirements, determination procedures, and the importance of timely communication and accurate documentation. The course also examines dispute avoidance and resolution mechanisms, including negotiation, amicable settlement, dispute avoidance and adjudication boards, and arbitration where applicable under the governing contract. Through practical case studies and workshops, participants strengthen their ability to prevent disputes, protect contractual entitlements, evaluate competing claims, and support fair, transparent, and commercially sound project outcomes.
