Course Overview

The Event & Conference Management Training Course equips event and conference organizers, marketing and communications staff, administrative professionals, and those responsible for corporate and government events with the knowledge and practical skills needed to plan, organize, deliver, and evaluate successful events and conferences that achieve their objectives and deliver a professional experience. Events and conferences, from internal meetings and corporate functions to large conferences, exhibitions, ceremonies, and official occasions, are powerful tools for communication, engagement, relationship building, and reputation, but they are logistically complex and highly visible, so success depends on thorough planning, strong coordination, attention to detail, and effective risk and budget management. Poorly managed events waste money, create a negative impression, and can expose the organization to safety and reputational risks. The course covers event and conference management across the full event lifecycle. Participants learn the types and purposes of events, the role of the event manager, and the event planning process from concept to evaluation, including setting clear objectives and defining success. The program then addresses event concept, theme, and format, audience and stakeholder planning, budgeting and financial management, and venue selection, layout, and logistics. Participants cover program and agenda design, speaker, delegate, and VIP management, suppliers and vendor management, catering, audiovisual, and technical requirements, marketing, invitations, and registration, and event branding and communication. Participants also examine event operations and on-the-day management, the run sheet and team coordination, risk assessment, health, safety, and security, contingency planning, hybrid and virtual events and event technology, protocol for official events, sustainability in events, and post-event evaluation, reporting, and return on objectives, building toward a complete event plan. The course is delivered through an event planning project carried through the course, budgeting and logistics exercises, run sheet and risk planning, and case studies. Participants leave with an event planning framework and checklist, an event budget template, a run sheet and logistics toolkit, a risk assessment and contingency template, and an event evaluation framework.
