Course Overview

The Digital Supply Chain Transformation Training Course equips supply chain, procurement, logistics, and operations leaders with the knowledge and practical frameworks needed to plan, prioritize, and lead the digital transformation of their supply chains. In government entities, ministries, healthcare systems, banks, energy and utility companies, manufacturing, retail, and distribution organizations, and large corporations, digital technologies are reshaping how demand is sensed, supply is planned, goods are sourced, stored, and moved, and how suppliers and customers are connected. Organizations that transform effectively gain greater visibility, speed, efficiency, and resilience. Many supply chain digital initiatives fall short of expectations. Organizations may invest in individual technologies without a clear link to business problems, pilots may succeed but never scale, systems may remain disconnected, and data quality may undermine the value of new tools. Some technologies are adopted because they are fashionable rather than because they fit the organization's needs and maturity. Supply chain teams may lack the skills to use new tools, cybersecurity risks may increase as partners become more connected, and the benefits of digital investments may not be measured clearly. This course provides a structured, practical approach to digital supply chain transformation. Participants learn the concept of the digital supply chain and digital supply networks, how to assess digital maturity, and how to identify the business problems that digital solutions should address. The program covers key technologies and their realistic applications, including cloud ERP, advanced planning and integrated business planning systems, supply chain control towers and end-to-end visibility, IoT, RFID, and track and trace, digital twins, artificial intelligence and machine learning, robotic process automation, blockchain, warehouse automation and robotics, additive manufacturing for spare parts, e-procurement, supplier portals, and data integration through APIs and electronic data interchange. Participants then learn how to build a business case, prioritize use cases by value and feasibility, design a digital supply chain roadmap, run pilots and scale successful solutions, select technology partners, manage data and cybersecurity, lead organizational change, develop digital skills, and establish governance and KPIs to measure digital value. The course is delivered through an interactive, application-focused approach with maturity assessments, use case workshops, technology evaluation exercises, and case studies. Participants leave with a digital supply chain maturity assessment, a prioritized digital use case portfolio, a technology evaluation matrix, a business case outline, a pilot design, a digital capability development plan, and a digital supply chain transformation roadmap for their organization.

Learning Objectives

  • Analyze the concept, drivers, and benefits of the digital supply chain and digital supply networks on Day 1.
  • Assess the digital maturity of the participant's supply chain across planning, sourcing, operations, logistics, data, people, and technology.
  • Identify supply chain problems and opportunities that digital solutions can address, starting from business needs rather than technology.
  • Evaluate key digital supply chain technologies, including cloud ERP, advanced planning systems, control towers, IoT, RFID, digital twins, artificial intelligence, robotic process automation, blockchain, and warehouse automation, in terms of realistic value and readiness.
  • Assess the role of end-to-end visibility, data integration, APIs, and electronic data interchange in connecting internal functions, suppliers, and customers.
  • Develop a prioritized portfolio of digital use cases based on value, feasibility, risk, and dependencies.
  • Develop a business case for digital supply chain investments with clear benefits, costs, risks, and measures.
  • Design pilots with clear objectives and success criteria and plan how successful solutions will be scaled.
  • Evaluate technology partners and solutions using structured selection criteria.
  • Assess data governance and cybersecurity requirements for connected supply chains.
  • Develop change management and digital skills plans that support adoption of new tools and ways of working.
  • Design a digital supply chain transformation roadmap with governance and KPIs by the end of Day 5.

Who Should Attend

This course is designed for supply chain directors and managers, procurement and logistics leaders, planning managers, warehouse and distribution managers, and operations managers responsible for improving supply chain performance through digital solutions. It is also highly relevant for digital transformation and innovation teams, IT and enterprise systems managers supporting supply chain functions, supply chain analysts, and project and program managers leading supply chain technology initiatives. It is particularly valuable for professionals in ministries and government entities modernizing public procurement, central supply, and distribution; in healthcare systems improving visibility and availability of medicines and medical supplies; in banks and financial institutions digitalizing procurement, supplier management, and operational logistics; and in energy, utilities, manufacturing, retail, e-commerce, and distribution organizations transforming planning, sourcing, warehousing, and transportation. Senior executives who sponsor digital investments, finance professionals evaluating business cases, and risk and cybersecurity professionals will also benefit from the course.

Learning Outcomes

  • By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
  • Explain what a digital supply chain is and how it differs from a traditional supply chain.
  • Assess their supply chain's digital maturity and identify the most important gaps.
  • Start digital initiatives from clearly defined business problems and outcomes.
  • Explain the realistic capabilities and limitations of key supply chain technologies.
  • Recognize the importance of data quality, integration, and visibility for digital success.
  • Prioritize digital use cases using value and feasibility criteria.
  • Build a clear business case for a digital supply chain initiative.
  • Design pilots and plan for scaling successful solutions.
  • Evaluate and select technology solutions and partners objectively.
  • Identify cybersecurity and data governance requirements in connected supply chains.
  • Plan the people side of transformation, including skills and adoption.
