The Digital Mining: Automation, Data & AI for Managers Training Course equips mine managers, executives, technology leaders, and government officials with a sound basis for deciding which digital investments a mining operation should make, in what order, and on what evidence. Mining suppliers now offer autonomous fleets, remote operations centers, sensors, digital twins, and artificial intelligence tools, and leaders across the Gulf and Africa are asked to approve them, often at remote sites with limited connectivity, a developing skills base, and operations that cannot be stopped to run an experiment. The course is about investment decisions, the evidence behind them, and their consequences for the operation, not about programming or data science. The course gives participants a plain-language view of what each technology does and where it has a realistic chance of creating value in a mine or processing plant. They examine fleet management systems, autonomous haulage and drilling, teleoperation and remote operations centers, condition monitoring and predictive maintenance, geological and plant data analytics, process optimization, and machine learning. For each they ask the same management questions: which operational problem does it solve, what must already be in place, what would it cost to run as well as to buy, and how would anyone know that it worked. Participants then work through the conditions that decide whether a digital program succeeds. These include data quality, ownership, and governance; connectivity and integration with existing systems; operational technology security under the IEC 62443 series; AI governance using ISO/IEC 42001 as a reference; vendor selection and lock-in; the design of honest pilots and the step from pilot to full-scale deployment; and safety cases for automated operations. Because technology changes how people work, the program gives equal weight to changing roles, workforce transition, national skills development, union and community expectations, and the regulator's interest in automated sites. The course is delivered through mining case studies of successful and failed programs, business case exercises, vendor evaluation scenarios, readiness assessments, and a final digital investment workshop. Participants leave with a digital readiness assessment, a use case scoring matrix, a business case template, a vendor evaluation checklist, and a phased digital investment roadmap they can adapt to their own organization.
