The Delay Analysis & Extension of Time (EOT) Claims Training Course provides construction professionals, project managers, planning engineers, and contract administrators with the technical knowledge and practical skills required to identify, analyse, substantiate, and manage project delays. The programme focuses on the relationship between project schedules, contractual obligations, delay events, and entitlement to extensions of time, equipping participants to address time-related disputes through structured analysis and well-supported claims. Project delays can arise from variations, late access to work areas, delayed approvals, design changes, unforeseen site conditions, resource shortages, supply chain disruptions, and other events affecting planned progress. Determining the consequences of these events requires more than identifying a difference between planned and actual completion dates. It involves understanding the approved baseline programme, contemporaneous project records, contractual risk allocation, critical path impacts, and the extent to which an event has affected contractual completion. This course examines the principles of delay analysis and the preparation of Extension of Time (EOT) claims, with particular emphasis on identifying delay events, establishing causation, assessing critical and non-critical delays, and evaluating concurrent delays. Participants explore commonly used forensic delay analysis methodologies and learn how to select an appropriate approach based on the contract, available project records, programme quality, and circumstances of the delay. The programme also addresses contractual notice requirements, claim substantiation, evidence management, delay-related correspondence, and the preparation of professional technical reports. Participants examine how planning records, progress updates, meeting minutes, instructions, variation orders, daily reports, and other contemporaneous documents can support or challenge an EOT submission. Attention is also given to the distinction between entitlement to additional time and entitlement to prolongation costs, which may require separate contractual and factual justification. Through practical exercises, schedule analysis, and realistic construction case studies, participants develop a structured approach to evaluating delay events and presenting defensible EOT claims. The course is suitable for professionals involved in construction planning, project controls, contract management, claims preparation, commercial management, and dispute avoidance across infrastructure, building, industrial, oil and gas, and engineering projects.
