The Curriculum Design & Development Training Course equips learning and development professionals, instructional designers, training managers, subject matter experts, and academic and vocational program developers with the knowledge and practical skills needed to design and develop effective, outcome-based curricula and training programs that achieve defined learning outcomes and performance goals. A well-designed curriculum turns organizational and learner needs into structured, coherent learning that builds the right knowledge, skills, and competencies in the right sequence, with aligned content, activities, and assessment. In government entities, ministries, public authorities, training academies, universities, banks, healthcare systems, and corporate learning functions, weak curriculum design leads to training that is unfocused, poorly sequenced, disconnected from performance, and difficult to evaluate. The course covers curriculum design and development from analysis to evaluation, grounded in recognized instructional design models and adult learning principles. Participants learn the foundations of curriculum design, the relationship between curriculum, programs, courses, and sessions, instructional design models, and how adults learn. The program then addresses needs and learner analysis, writing clear learning outcomes and objectives using recognized frameworks and learning domains, structuring and sequencing curriculum content, and selecting learning strategies, methods, and modalities, including classroom, e-learning, blended, and experiential and on-the-job learning. Participants also learn to design learning activities and materials, align assessment with outcomes through formative and summative assessment and competency-based assessment, map curricula to competency frameworks and qualifications, develop facilitator and participant materials and guides, apply quality assurance and validation, pilot and improve curricula, evaluate learning and impact, and use technology and AI tools responsibly in curriculum design. The course is delivered through a hands-on curriculum design project carried through the week, design workshops, outcome and assessment writing exercises, and peer review. Participants leave with a curriculum design framework and template, a learning outcomes and objectives guide, a content sequencing and lesson plan template, an assessment design and alignment matrix, and a curriculum quality assurance checklist.
