The Container Terminal Operations Management Training Course equips terminal managers, operations planners, and port authority officials with the management knowledge needed to run a container terminal as one integrated system. It is a terminal specializt course: rather than surveying ports as a whole, it concentrates on the planning decisions, performance measures, and commercial relationships particular to container handling across the quay, yard, and gate. Participants examine berth planning and vessel windows, stowage coordination with shipping lines, crane allocation, yard strategy, rehandling, empty container flows, transshipment, reefer management, and gate and truck appointment arrangements. The program also addresses the terminal operating system as a management tool, equipment fleet planning at a decision level, and the way each operating area affects the next. The aim is to help managers find the true constraint on terminal performance. Participants also study how shipping alliances, larger vessels, and peak arrival patterns change the planning problem, and how managers can test options before committing resources. The course also covers terminal performance indicators, labor and shift planning, maintenance strategy, customer service agreements with shipping lines, and safety and security management, with reference to the ISPS Code and the IMDG Code. It is a management program and does not train equipment operators or provide technical competence. The course is delivered through terminal case studies, planning exercises, performance diagnostics, and a final terminal improvement workshop. Participants leave with a terminal performance dashboard, a berth and yard planning checklist, a gate improvement plan, and a terminal improvement plan they can adapt to their own facilities.
