Course Overview

The Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) Exam Preparation Training Course equips internal auditors, audit managers, and risk and control professionals with a structured, intensive review of the CIA body of knowledge and the exam practice needed to prepare with confidence for the Certified Internal Auditor certification offered by The Institute of Internal Auditors. The CIA is the globally recognized professional certification for internal auditors and is increasingly expected for audit leadership roles in government entities, ministries, public authorities, banks, insurance companies, energy and utility companies, and corporations. Its three-part examination tests not only technical knowledge but also the ability to apply professional standards and judgement to realistic scenarios. The course reviews all three parts of the CIA examination in an integrated way, aligned with the Global Internal Audit Standards. For Part 1, Essentials of Internal Auditing, participants review the foundations of internal auditing, the purpose and mandate of internal audit, independence, objectivity, ethics, and professionalism, governance, risk management, and control frameworks, and fraud risks. For Part 2, Practice of Internal Auditing, they review managing the internal audit function, risk-based audit planning, engagement planning, performing engagements, evidence and sampling, data analytics, communicating results, and monitoring progress. For Part 3, Business Knowledge for Internal Auditing, they review business acumen, organizational structures and processes, information security and cybersecurity, information technology and emerging technologies, and financial management, including financial accounting, managerial accounting, and finance concepts. Throughout the course, participants practice scenario-based questions, apply exam techniques, and complete timed practice tests with detailed review and a personal performance analysis. The course is delivered through concise concept reviews, scenario analysis, domain-based practice questions, and timed practice tests. Participants leave with a part-by-part study guide, key concept summaries and standards quick references, a bank of practice questions, a personal study plan for each exam part, and a practice test performance analysis. As the course reviews all three parts in five days, it is designed to structure and accelerate preparation alongside self-study. Eligibility requirements, exam content, and exam format are set by The Institute of Internal Auditors and should be confirmed through its official sources. CIA is a trademark of The Institute of Internal Auditors.
