Course Overview

The APQP & PPAP Training Course provides professionals with the knowledge and practical tools required to plan product quality, manage new product development, and demonstrate compliance with customer-specific requirements. The course focuses on Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), two important methodologies used to improve product quality and production readiness, particularly in the automotive supply chain. Participants explore the five phases of APQP, cross-functional project planning, design and process risk analysis, process flow development, control plans, measurement system requirements, and production validation. The programme also covers PPAP documentation, submission levels, customer approval requirements, and the evidence needed to demonstrate that production processes can consistently manufacture parts meeting specified requirements. Through practical exercises and case studies, participants learn how to coordinate quality planning activities, prepare PPAP submissions, identify potential production risks, and manage approval requirements before full-scale production. The course supports organizations seeking to reduce launch risks, minimize defects, improve supplier performance, and strengthen customer confidence.

Learning Objectives

  • Explain the principles and relationship between APQP and PPAP.
  • Apply the five phases of Advanced Product Quality Planning.
  • Develop cross-functional project plans and quality planning milestones.
  • Identify product and process risks using structured analysis methods.
  • Prepare process flow diagrams, control plans, and supporting documentation.
  • Understand measurement system analysis and process capability requirements.
  • Identify PPAP submission elements and applicable submission levels.
  • Verify product and process compliance with customer requirements.
  • Manage documentation gaps, deviations, and customer approval requests.
  • Establish effective launch readiness and product quality verification practices.

Who Should Attend

This course is designed for quality engineers, supplier quality professionals, manufacturing engineers, process engineers, product development teams, project managers, production supervisors, and professionals responsible for product launches and customer quality requirements. It is particularly suitable for automotive manufacturers, component suppliers, industrial manufacturers, and organizations operating within supply chains that require structured product quality planning, production validation, and formal part approval.

Learning Outcomes

  • By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
  • Explain APQP and PPAP requirements and their role in product quality assurance.
  • Organize quality planning activities across the five APQP phases.
  • Define project responsibilities, deliverables, milestones, and review points.
  • Apply Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), where applicable.
  • Develop process flow diagrams and production control plans.
  • Interpret measurement system analysis and process capability results.
  • Prepare and review PPAP documentation and supporting evidence.
  • Determine appropriate PPAP submission requirements based on customer instructions.
  • Identify production readiness gaps and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Support successful product launches through structured quality planning and approval processes.
