This advanced, practical course provides a structured approach to airline network and route planning, focusing on how airlines design, evaluate, optimize, and continuously adapt their route networks to changing market conditions and operational constraints. The program examines the relationship between network strategy, passenger demand, route economics, fleet deployment, connectivity, schedules, airport capacity, competition, and operational performance. Participants will learn how these factors interact when assessing new routes, adjusting existing services, and determining optimal network structures. Particular attention is given to market and demand analysis, route profitability, traffic flows, connecting opportunities, hub-and-spoke structures, fleet and aircraft utilization, frequency planning, competitive analysis, and scenario evaluation. The course connects commercial analysis with operational realities to support practical route planning decisions. Through airline case studies, route evaluation exercises, network analysis, and scenario-based workshops, participants will develop practical skills for assessing route opportunities, identifying network weaknesses, and developing sustainable network improvement strategies.
