Course Overview

The AI in Procurement & Supply Chain Management Training Course equips procurement, supply chain, and operations professionals with a clear, practical understanding of how artificial intelligence can improve decision making, efficiency, resilience, and value across the procurement and supply chain lifecycle. Government entities, ministries, banks, oil and gas companies, and large corporations manage complex supplier networks, large volumes of transactions and contracts, and supply chains exposed to disruption, price volatility, and regulatory scrutiny. AI technologies, including machine learning, predictive analytics, natural language processing, and generative AI, are creating new opportunities to analyze data, anticipate risks, and automate routine work. At the same time, many organizations struggle to move from interest in AI to real results. Common barriers include unclear use cases, poor data quality, fragmented systems, unrealistic expectations, limited internal skills, and uncertainty about governance, accountability, and compliance. In public sector and regulated environments, questions of transparency, fairness, data protection, and human oversight are especially important. Adopting AI successfully requires a structured approach that connects business problems, data, technology, people, and responsible governance. This course provides that structured approach without requiring a technical background. Participants learn the core AI concepts relevant to procurement and supply chain, then explore practical applications including spend classification and analytics, demand forecasting and inventory optimization, supplier risk monitoring, contract analysis, bid and tender evaluation support, invoice and transaction automation, logistics optimization, and AI assistants for procurement users. The program also covers data readiness, selecting and evaluating AI solutions, running pilots, building a business case, responsible AI principles, regulatory and ethical considerations, cybersecurity, change management, workforce skills, and measuring value. Throughout the five days, participants apply each concept to their own procurement or supply chain operations. They leave with a prioritized AI use case portfolio, a data readiness assessment, a responsible AI checklist, an AI pilot design, a value measurement framework, and an AI adoption roadmap for their function.

Learning Objectives

  • Analyze core artificial intelligence concepts, including machine learning, predictive analytics, natural language processing, and generative AI, and their relevance to procurement and supply chain on Day 1.
  • Evaluate the current level of data, systems, and analytical maturity in the participant's procurement or supply chain function.
  • Identify and assess high-value AI use cases across sourcing, contracting, purchasing, inventory, logistics, and supplier management.
  • Apply AI-enabled spend analytics and classification approaches to improve spend visibility and identify savings opportunities.
  • Assess AI applications for demand forecasting, inventory optimization, and replenishment planning.
  • Evaluate AI tools for supplier risk monitoring, supplier performance analysis, and early warning of supply disruption.
  • Assess the use of natural language processing and generative AI for contract analysis, tender document review, and procurement assistance, including their limitations.
  • Develop a data readiness plan covering data sources, quality, governance, and integration requirements for AI initiatives.
  • Apply responsible AI principles, including transparency, fairness, accountability, data protection, and human oversight, to procurement and supply chain decisions.
  • Design an AI pilot with clear objectives, success criteria, data requirements, risks, and evaluation methods.
  • Develop a business case and value measurement framework for AI initiatives using relevant procurement and supply chain KPIs.
  • Design an AI adoption roadmap for the participant's function by the end of Day 5.

Who Should Attend

This course is designed for procurement and supply chain directors, heads of procurement, category managers, sourcing specialists, contracts managers, supply chain planners, inventory and warehouse managers, and logistics managers who want to understand and apply AI in their operations. It is also highly relevant for procurement excellence teams, supply chain analysts, and digital transformation professionals leading technology initiatives in procurement and operations. It is particularly valuable for professionals in ministries and government entities modernizing public procurement and supply management while maintaining transparency, accountability, and compliance; in banks and financial institutions managing third-party risk, outsourcing, and procurement analytics; and in oil and gas and industrial organizations managing materials and spare parts, complex supplier networks, maintenance and operations supply, logistics, and project procurement. IT, data and analytics, risk, internal audit, legal, and compliance professionals who support or oversee AI initiatives, as well as senior leaders sponsoring procurement and supply chain transformation, will also benefit from the course.

Learning Outcomes

  • By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
  • Explain key AI concepts in plain business language and relate them to procurement and supply chain activities.
  • Distinguish realistic AI capabilities from overstated claims when evaluating solutions.
  • Identify, assess, and prioritize AI use cases based on value, feasibility, data availability, and risk.
  • Use AI-supported spend analysis to identify consolidation, compliance, and savings opportunities.
  • Evaluate how predictive models can improve demand forecasts and inventory decisions.
  • Apply AI-based insights to monitor supplier risk and performance more proactively.
  • Use generative AI tools responsibly to support document review, drafting, and analysis while verifying outputs.
  • Assess data readiness and define the data improvements needed to support AI initiatives.
  • Apply responsible AI and governance controls appropriate to procurement decisions and regulatory requirements.
  • Design and evaluate an AI pilot with clear success criteria.
  • Build a business case and track the value delivered by AI initiatives.
  • Present a practical AI adoption roadmap for their procurement or supply chain function.
